About The Tri-City
The area called Tri-city (or TrójMiasto in Polish) in northern Poland, on the coast of the Baltic Sea, is comprised of three neighbouring cities: Gdansk, Gdynia and Sopot. Gdansk is the largest and most well-known of these, infamous as the location of the Battle of Westerplatte, where the first clashes of the Second World War took place between the Polish and German armies. But Gdansk is also famous as the site of the birth of the Solidarity Movement, a powerful uprising in Poland that started in the shipyards of Gdansk and ultimately led to the overthrowal and collapse of Communism across Eastern Europe. Sopot is an altogether smaller and quieter city, well-known as a major health spa and resort destination. Gdynia, a large Baltic seaport, is a hub of ship-building and commerce and one of Poland’s youngest and most fast-growing destinations.
Our tour with a knowledgeable local guide will show you all the ‘must sees’ of the Tri-City, including the stunning Basilica of St Mary in the Old Town, as well as, naturally, the Gdansk Shipyard and its heroic story of Lech Walesa and Solidarity. Our final visit will be to the sea resort of Sopot, which has the longest wooden pier in Europe. Our special day will also include a short organ recital in the Oliwa Cathedral and end with sensational panoramic views from the Nowy Port Lighthouse.

Our personalised tour includes door-to-door transport to and from your hotel or other accommodation in central Gdansk to the most interesting sites in all three cities, including Gdansk Old Town, St Mary’s Basilica, Gdansk Shipyard, Baltic sea cliffs in Gdynia-Orłowo, Nowy Port Lighthouse, and an organ recital in Oliwa Cathedral (pending availability)
